I had my official year 10 work experience with Perera & Co in 2018. That was the first work experience I ever had in my life thus it was where I was first taught how to photocopy, scan, write professional letters/emails, communicate eloquently with clients and develop a resilient attitude for positive criticisms (which you must be prepared for anywhere you go in order to learn). Having work experience with Perera & Co not only provided me with an insight into immigration law but also allowed me to realise from a very early age that I wanted to be a lawyer. Around the time which I first assisted the solicitors at Perera & Co, I was going through a rough time at school where I was unmotivated and burnt out from all my negative experiences of secondary school in general. However the solicitors at Perera & Co were pivotal in reminding me that secondary school was only a stepping stone into the great future that I could have, thus inspiring me to work 10 times harder from the moment that I went back to school so that one day I could be in their position as successful people. I am grateful to everyone at Perera & Co for seeing potential in me, it was only after they believed in me that I began believing in myself, causing me to go onto achieving mostly A’s in my GCSE and a whopping A*A*A on my A-Levels. I’m glad that the firm continues to provide work experience, it is what young people like myself need in such a deprived area- to be inspired.
